Hello and welcome to The House of Chrome. You are looking at a very unique and rare American D9AT dual dynamic microphone made in Pasadena, California during the early to late 1950's. This is one of the most collectible microphones of the 1940's and 50's and it comes with a beautiful period E.V 423A desk stand and short cable. This "ribbon style" microphone sits on it's original yoke and resembled the high end RCA mics of that era. The D9AT has a look all it's own replicating the Skyscrapers of the day that were being built all across America. It's actually a dual dynamic mic however. The heavy deco influence can be seen with it rounded, smooth edges that are appealing to the eye at any angle. The D9 series was first introduced in the late 1930's and had a run of about 15 to 20 years total.  It should be noted right away that the original elements are still present but they are very weak. The signal is certainly nor strong enough to use. This was a High impedance model. This D9AT comes with the original cloth element cover and it too looks fantastic. This mic was very well cared for over the years as you can see. The D9 series were true cardioid mics having the two elements. The finish on this mic is certainly way above average compared to most D9A or D9AT mics I have personally seen and both thumb screws are present and work excellent. Many are often missing at least one thumb screw. The satin chrome finish shows almost no wear in the satin chrome finish and still has a beautiful luster. The finish has been cleaned inside and out as well as on the yoke which rotates perfectly giving the mic a wide degree of tilt. Bent and broken ribs are a common problem on these but there are absolutely no broken or fractured ribs on this old girl and it's probably the nicest overall D9 I have seen in a long time. There is just one bent rib in the front. The mic is made of magnesium though so please do not attempt to straighten the rib as it could fracture. All original screws are included. This was one of American's finest microphones ever made and a true collectors piece because of sound, design and rarity. The original American badge is still present and looks great. The mic with yoke is appx 8 inches high X 4 inches wide X 2 inches deep. I would rate the overall physical condition of this mic a 8 + on  a scale of 1 - 10. This mic also comes with the original (but short) 3 pin female cable. The cable shows virtually no wear to the exterior and the connector is in perfect working order. These female 3 pin connectors are hard to come by. It adds a nice touch to the mic for display purposes. MICROPHONE STAND SHOWN IS PART OF THIS SALE... The stand is a 1950's era E.V 423 A microphone desk stand. This is an all aluminum stand with a satin chrome base and satin chrome stem. This model was widely produced by Electro Voice during the 1950's through 1970's. As you can see the stand thread itself is universal and any mic will technically mate to the top of it. This particular E.V stand has very lite wear and as you can see. Very lite scuffs, scratches and but zero pitting on the top of the base. The polished chrome stem is perfect. Please let the detailed pictures be your guide. All 3 original rubber pads are included and will keep the stand from scratching any surface it sits on. Mic stand is appx 5 inches tall X 5 inches wide. This would make a great display piece in the home, office or studio and sure to draw attention wherever it sits. As with all my vintage items... I can promise you will be happy with it for the price paid.
