All our Handpans are shipped in a double lined, purpose built crate.     Further information Our Handpans are entirely handcrafted. They are not pressed shells. They are hand beaten (like a tradition Tibetan Singing Bowl). This produces a warm sound, with a long sustain. Each inrstument has a character of its own.  For several years our chief beater worked for a leading Balinese Handpan manufacturer. Where he has beaten hundreds of instruments. Prior to this, he spent nearly two decades forming and tuning steel as a maker of traditional Gamelan musical instruments. All our Handpans are hand finished in the UK to produce our distinct hardwearing finish. Our Handpans are not painted (paint or lacquer subdues the sound and is very susceptible to chipping and flaking) A stainless steel rim is applied to strengthen and protect this high wear area. Each Handpan is accompanied with a padded Gig bag, and care pack. The care pack contains a sample of Frog lube (a non hazardous, skin friendly lubricant made entirely from biodegradable food grade materials) two microfiber clothes, a cushion, care instructions and some 00 Steel wool (yes, our finish is that durable it can be cleaned and polished with steel wool!) This is contained within a neoprene bag that has a note index printed on it, to help orientate you to the tuning of the instrument. To further aid orientation each steeltone Handpan has a decal with the name of the musical scale prefixed with the key note. (the central “Ding” note) This is always located between the ‘ding’ and the same corresponding note that is one octave higher in the surrounding outer tonal fields. For example the scale Akebono is denoted as ‘F  Akebono’. The decal is located between both F notes. (D  minor would be positioned between both D notes) This allows players to quickly orientate themselves to the instrument and especially useful for multiple Handpan players. These decals, like our logo are set within the steel finish and cannot be felt by the touch of a finger.
