Up for grabs is one of my most prized musical possession, a hot-rodded 1979 Fender Start Antigua that I purchased from Noe Valley Music in San Francisco years ago.Not one for purists who want an untouched original Strat. This is for someone who wants to own a piece or history, that takes them back to a time and place every time they pick it up. If that's you, then keep on reading. As you know, the 60's and 70's were the golden age for hot-rodding or modding your Fenders as Gibson's exploded in popularity due to the rock n' roll craze, so Fender players modded their guitars to produce a harder edged sound. This guitar, represents everything from that era. From what I understand from the previous owner, in San Francisco in the 70's. there was a famous shop that specialised in modding guitars, thats pretty much all they did due to the demand. The previous owner of this guitar, changed the pickup configuration to hum buckers in the bridge and neck and also added a built-in pre-amp that can be turned on/off and gain controlled y the knob closest to the jack. The preamp, when engaged can fatten a typical distortion sound into a more overdriven to fuzz tones. It's really fun to play with. That's what I've enjoyed about this guitar so much. It's a rock guitar to be sure, but I enjoy the sonic possibilities afforded by the different controls. Also, almost every possible thing that could be converted to brass was. The bridge, the machine heads, the jack plate, everything. This may not be your thing, but for sure, is that there is no other beast like it.Comes with a quality hard-case (not the original, didn't get it).Would prefer local pickup but am willing to ship it Australia wide.Message me for any questions and I'd recommend coming and having a play if you're in Melbourne (I'm in Elwood). It's a really vibe guitar and needs to be played to be truly understood. No stupid low offers please. I'm not in a hurry and I want it to go to someone who will love and truly appreciate it for what it is.Cheers!
