Description
After several years building and repairing guitars, I need to make some room in my shop. I will be listing several vintage guitars in the next few weeks, so add me to your "SELLERS YOU FOLLOW" section. This old warhorse has had all needed repairs done. The repairs were performed by Burkett Guitars. The neck is set, and the action is good with plenty of saddle. I included a picture from the front of the bridge so that you could see the saddle set up. The original top was destroyed when I acquired the guitar. A new red spruce top was installed, along with new interior bracing. I had another '46 disassembled that I used for a pattern on the braces and the scalloping. The nitrocellulose sunburst finish on the top is very thin, and finished over with just a couple of coats of clear satin nitro. No attempt was made to fill all the grain lines, etc. This was done in order to try to match the old crazed original finish on the rest of the guitar. While the top was off, all repairs needed were done to the back braces and to the cracks. It has a long crack repair in the bass side that has a 1/8" slither of old wood inlaid along the crack. There are also 3 or 4 crack repairs on the treble side. All interior bracing is tight with no need for repairs. There are various other repaired cracks on the back, but all are tight and should be worry free. No cracks in the neck or peghead. There are 3 very small holes on the end block where appears that it once had a trapeze installed. All of the finish on the back, sides, neck and peghead appears to be original, and the original logo is in good shape. The bridge is a replica made from BRW. The pickguard is a tinted reproduction from Firestripe Pickguards. The Kluson open back tuners are in great shape and work very smoothly. This is a great player, and does a great job of matching that old vintage sound. It needs nothing done to it. I has enough scars and mojo that you can get a great guitar, with a great sound, without breaking the bank. All-original models like this, without the repairs, are usually in the $6,000 to $7,000 range, and I promise you, this one plays and sounds every bit as good. Please review all the pictures and ask questions, since this one is sold as a player and AS IS.It ships in a non-original, vintage hard case with dark blue lining. It is a little over sized, like it may fit a J-185. The case is rough, but the guitar will be padded safely for shipping.LOOK THE GUITAR OVER AND MAKE AN OFFER!I will ship anywhere in the continental US for $45.00. I will use UPS, Fedex Home Delivery, Fedex Ground, or USPS, depending on the location that I ship it to.
