Greetings-I am looking to give this beautiful antique Linton English Horn a second life. It is a 1959 vintage school-issue horn- solid dark wood, amazing condition (no cracks, dings, or major damage)  As many instrumental teachers know, most of these old instruments were made of high quality, nearly indestructible components unlike the school instruments of today- no plastic parts!  This instrument would be great for an intermediate student, double reed enthusiast/collector, restoration geek looking for a rewarding project, etc.
This instrument looks like it came out of a time capsule.  It was stored in a clean, dry place, in its case.  This horn is in excellent condition but needs some basic work to bring it back to its former glory.  Number on joints reads "1271-" not sure if this is the model or serial number.    Joints all fit together, keys line up properly when assembled and seem to function properly.Upon inspection, here is what I can tell needs repair: (all small/affordable jobs)*- missing bocal- needs new pads, some screws tightened/adjusted- ALL KEYS WORK and MOVE as far as I can tell.  - needs new corks (cork caps were on, lower joint cork is in better condition than upper joint cork)- All key/rod plating is in great condition.  Needs buffing, but no decomposition or damage to plating.  Not sure if keys are silver plated (I'm leaning towards "no" because it's a school horn, but I could definitely be wrong). If you live in the NYC area, I can suggest a qualified woodwind repair technician. The case has seen better days, but is still functional and in fair condition.  Needs new handle and right lock reattached.  Will close and latch.*This instrument is sold AS IS.  I am not a double reed expert (although I am a clarinet player, so I have a working knowledge of reeds/woodwinds).  I have not tested the horn because I do not have a proper reed, but it appears playable upon completion of suggested repairs above.  There may be other necessary repairs to make; please have a professional instrument repairperson assess its condition.  My above notes are my opinion upon close inspection.  No refunds or returns. Please refer to photos.  Feel free to contact me with questions.
