1980's Jim Kelley vintage F.A.C.S. 30-60 Combo guitar Amp and Attenuator - 17885  SN# AB0153Here is a vintage 1980's Jim Kelley F.A.C.S. “Foot Activated Channel Switching”  30/60 Reverb Model amplifier by Active Guitar Electronics. This particular 1 x 12″ combo, serial number AB01753, is in very good to excellent all original condition and includes the original Power Attenuator, cable, and original footswitch. This is still considered one of the very best early boutique amps. The power section includes the unusual configuration of four 6V6's power tubes. The preamp utilizes five pre amp tubes. The speaker is a Celestion G12 H-100.  These Kelly Reverb Models produce super clear clean tone with plenty of head room. Running the signal through the attenuator produces a full spectrum of power tube distortion/overdrive at a reasonable volume. This Jim Kelley Reverb Model utilizes: (4) Electro Harmonix 6V6 power tubes and (5)  12AX7 preamp tubes. The speaker is a Celestion G12 H-100. Tubes have been changed from the originals and I don't know if this is the original 12" speaker that came with the amp. Cosmetically, the bottom of the cabinet was drilled and 4 wheels were added. The faceplate has an impact indentation under the Gain II knob. It looks like the chassis could be removed and the plate could be easily straightened. It does have the original Jim Kelley logo but I don't know if the grill cloth is original. It looks original but I am not familiar with the original grill covering during this period. The original cream tolex shows a few tiny nicks mainly on the bottom of the amp. The original large rubber feet are still in place on the bottom. Overall this amp is still cosmetically pleasing, and it is built to extreme industrial specifications. Amp chassis shows no corrosion. External trim pieces could use a good detail cleaning. All pots other than the Reverb blend pots are push/pull type. The 30/60 power selector toggle is located on the front panel. I did not pull the reverb tank out of the cabinet but it is probably of the Accutronics Type S 6 spring design. This amp is considered by some to be one of the finest and most robust guitar amps ever designed, in the same class as the much revered Dumble & Trainwreck amps. A version of these Jim Kelley amps has been re-issued by John Suhr and sell new for near $4000. Thanks from the entire Showcase online sales team.
