Rare 1967 Gibson "Country Western" aka SJN (Southern Jumbo Natural) Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar with Vintage CaseThis guitar is in overall good, naturally aged condition without major repairs or alterationsIt plays very well and has just been totally overhauled and set-up with a new saddle and light strings by our in-house luthier with over 25 years experience. The guitar came to us with some loose bracing that has all been professionally set and re-glued to factory standards. There are no cracks in the guitar at all- repaired or otherwise. The wood around the bridge-plate has lifted slightly, but the bridge is still snug and the action of the guitar is still fantastic. (see side angle picture) (alternate angle pictured below). The bridge appears to be original but may not be- this was around the time that Gibson was switching from belly-down to belly-up bridge. There is no cosmetic evidence or evidence inside the guitar that the bridge was replaced. We opted to leave it as the guitar plays well and the lift does not pose any issue what-so-ever to the guitar's playability, string clearance, intonation, or action. The neck joint is still nice and snug to the body. (pictured)There is one area of buckle-wear on the back the size of about 3 quarter-dollars (pictured below)The upper strap button may not be original but is at least 40 years old. (pictured below)Action is set at medium-low, with an extra bone saddle included for those interested in altering it to their preference. There are some darker wear marks on the side of the bass-side of the guitar where the player's arm rests. (pictured)The guitar has substantial natural micro-checking all over with some yellowing of the clear-coat as well. It is incredibly unusual as it does not have a first position inlayAll the hardware is original (bridge pins, truss rod cover, tuning machines, etc...)The guitar is surprisingly balanced in sound with moderate volume, rather than overbearingly loud as many other SJs often are.The case is a vintage 1960s "soft" hardshell case made in the USA that has Exelsior latches (supplied companies like Lifton, etc...)- we don't know if it is original to the guitar. We charge flat-rate shipping on large sized high-value items and always return any leftovers after making sure it is insured against loss and damage
