Vintage Neumann U87 Early 70's Low Serial Mint!
Estimated price for orientation: 2 895 $
Category: Vintage Pro Audio Equipment
Class:
Description Brand: Neumann
Hello fellow eBayr's Up for auction is a beautiful low serial number Neumann U87 Microphone. This unit has a very low serial number and was manufactured in West Germany in the late 60's early 70's. There are a lot of these out there however they don't match up to the quality and workmanship of the west German units which were hand made by true craftsman years ago. As you may know the newer readily available "Ai" units do not utilize the same brass capsule of the original units nor do they have transformers or the discrete circuitry of the originals. These units are rare in this condition and vintage. The mic sounds fantastic and I have only used this one a few times but WOW what a sound! If you are in the market for U87 you should definitely consider this one due to its authenticity and vintage. This mic was originally sold by Gotham audio a high end pro audio company in NYC. It was used for some historic recording and most likely will continue to sound incredible for years to come. I also suggest a capsule cleaning be performed as a precautionary measure as I did not get around to doing this but had intended to. Also as you will see in the pictures like most of these mics this one has a small bend in the grill on the top left side of the mic. This seems to be common among mics of this vintage but DOES NOT affect operation in anyway. I also had the mic inspected prior to purchasing it by a Neumann specialist and was advised to proceed with purchase by the technician who said this unit was in "mint" condition and all the components where original! I used it recently on a platinum artist who's currently charting on billboard and it made getting a solid vocal effortless! Please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns you may have as I understand this is an investment. I do feel obligated to state that the microphone is being sold "As is" due to its age and delicate nature. I will make certain to pack it with care and ship it with insurance. Please also check my Feedback as I have always strived to provide quality items and good customer support. Good Luck and Happy Bidding!! Regards, Chand
