Vintage bowlback mandolin, handmade in Germany, a very beautiful and very interesting piece.
The label on the rear of headstock says "Herwiga Solist", (handmade by luthier Wilhelm Herwig from Markneukirchen, one of the best luthiers for mandolin in Germany in the 20th century).
I guess it was made around 1920.
Finest all solid woods, ebony fretboard and bridge, the top is high quality solid spruce, the back is made of rosewood with 44 fluted ribs. On the pickguard mother-of-pearl inlays.
The mandolin does not need repair and is immediately playable with brilliant sound.
It comes in its hardshell case.
