For sale is  a Couesnon Cornet from 1913, in C, B, and Bb, a True Gem that Still Sings.  The number 13 is circled under the word "Paris". This is a true vintage and historical instrument.  It was created in honor of the 1900 World Fair in Paris and the dedication is engraved on the cornet.  The coating is mostly intact, except for a small blemish on the inside of the bell.  The valves were re-coated by the very capable music store of Jon Baltimore in Manhattan.  The valves are fast and all slides are moving.  There is a small dent at the back of the lead pipe. Following my request, Jon changed the position of the lead pipe support and elongated it in order to play in C.  While playing in C, I use a Trumpet-Cornet adaptor for the mouthpiece.  The adaptor is inserted into the receiver and the cornet mouthpiece goes into it. Sometimes I use a trumpet mouthpiece inserted directly into the receiver. Playing in B is done with a short extension of the lead pipe, and playing in Bb is done with a longer extension (see pictures).  This cornet still sings at 103 years of age, a true gem.   The cornet is light, small and comes with a small gig bag.  Included is the original mouthpiece which is unique in shape and very suitable for this instrument. I also include the original bag which gives an idea of how old this wonderful instrument.
