I wrote to Thomas Favilla about this guitar, and sent him pictures. He replied! And this is what he wrote: "Your S-150 was imported in 1974. It was built by Takamine with laminated rosewood back and sides, and spruce top. With variations I brought in about 300 of them. A popular model. -Thomas Favilla"As you can see in the photos that accompany this listing, this vintage guitar has the script, inlaid "Favilla" name on the headstock - a very rare guitar.
Inside is a sticker which reads:"Selected and Inspected by FavillaAquilaModel S-150 Serial No. 71134Favilla Musical EnterprisesMade in Japan Final Adjustments Made in U.S.A."For its 42-year-old age, it is in very good condition. There is a blemish in the finish on the front, below the bridge, as can be seen in the photos, and a 1-inch long nick in the finish below the pick guard. And there are the normal light scuffs and scratches. Action on the guitar is somewhat high as you approach the 12th fret, as expected on a guitar of this vintage that is in original condition.The sound out of this guitar is, in my opinion, excellent and similar to Martin's of this era. Bright, punchy, amazing resonance and tone. Any questions, please ask!
