E.R. Pfretzschner
16" Antonius Stradivarius Copy Viola
with Hardshell Case
(Bow Not Included)
Used - Fair Cosmetic Condition, but still Playable
The year was 1966...the place was Mittenwald, Germany...the maker was E.R. Pfretzschner...and it was in that year and that place that this 16" Stradivarius Copy Viola was hand-made by Pfretzschner.  This sweet looking viola features a spruce top, flamed maple back, a maple neck, and an ebony fretboard and tuning pegs.  The Kronotone tailpiece with fine tuners and the maple bridge will keep this viola in tune with you every step of the way.  The back of the body is separating at the seam, plus there are some scars and blemishes throughout this vintage gem, which really only adds to its old world charm!  On top of all that, this viola still delivers and lush, enchanting tone!  Make it yours for the next 50 years!
Cosmetic and Functionality DescriptionBody:  the back is separating at the bottom part of the seam; the top, back, and sides all show some heavy scratches, chips, dings, and dents...all pretty normal for a viola approaching 50 years of age;  there is some fading in the finish in some areas as well
Neck, Headstock, and Fingerboard: the fingerboard has a few very tiny nicks in it, but these should not affect the viola's playability; the neck has some visible scuff marks, scratches, and indentations in it that should not affect the comfortable feel of the neck; the headstock has some very noticeable wear in the finish and also has a few small dings that can be found on the sides
Action and Playability:  the action is about medium and the neck is straight
Hardware: the tailpiece has some obvious paintloss on it, but the fine tuners all work properly; the tuning pegs are in fantastic shape also
Includes:  16" viola and hardshell case (chinrest, shoulder rest, and bow not included)
