Chickering Cocked-Hat

For your consideration is this beautiful American made piano, that was the grandfather to the modern grand piano we have today. The Cocked-Hat piano was an early hybrid, an improvement of the square piano which contained 85 keys. This was an amazing attempt that completely changed the stringing arrangement up to that point. These are extremely rare, with only about 100 having been produced. Today, far less have survived, most in museums and very few in private hands.
