After years of playing, the tone of this J-50 Deluxe has a well-rounded low end that gives a bit of extra power when the guitar is laid into. The mid-range is rich and full and is a good compliment to the high-end frequencies. The top has aged gracefully and adds a wonderful vintage charm to instrument overall. As an added bonus, it comes with an aftermarket passive soundboard transducer pickup and a professional setup from out in-house tech, so the guitar will play great both acoustically and plugged in.
Condition: This guitar is in good condition overall. It does have a good amount of wear in the form of nicks, dings, scratches, finish checking, and so on from years of being played, but considering its age, is still in great and playable condition. The frets are in excellent shape and show minimal wear. The neck plays great and the truss rod functions as it should. At some point in this guitar’s life, it had a headstock repair done, as well as two small crack repairs. The repairs were done well and pose no issues to the structural integrity of the instrument. Body: Square shoulder dreadnaught body shape. Spruce top with mahogany back and sides. 3-stripe top purfling and 3 ring striped rosette. Black binding and pickguard. Rosewood bridge with white bridge pins with black dot.
Neck: Medium-thickness C shape mahogany neck (.83” at the 1st fret, .98” at the 9th fret). 20 fret rosewood fretboard with pearl dot inlays and white side dots. Mother-of-Pearl Gibson headstock inlay. Nickel 3-per-side Gibson sealed gear tuning machines. 1 5/8” nut width. 25 ¼” scale length.Electronics: Aftermarket passive soundboard transducer pickup.Weight: 4 lbs 8.2 oz
Playability/Sound: The C shaped neck is very comfortable to hold and should be very familiar to a large number of players. The tone of this guitar is incredibly warm with a great round low end, nice mid articulation and smooth high-end.Case: Includes a vintage hard shell case.
