This is a great little guitar, great acoustically and it really sings with the with the pickup.

Please pay particular attention to the close up picture of the bridge. I will explain. When Gibson made these L50 archtops in the 1950's/60's, for a period around that time, instead of fitting proper solid tone bars or braces they used what is referred to as "kerfed bracing". I can only imagine this was to save time and money. This "kerfed bracing" is not as strong as conventional solid tone bars an is liable to fail causing the top to "sink". That is what had happened to this guitar before I acquired it it a few years ago (see photos).
After removing the top I removed the offending kerfed braces and fitted new solid tone bars.
I reassembled the guitar and refinished the top, however I re-used the original Gibson two footed bridge, which could flex, and unfortunately allowed the top to again sag a little between the new tone bars. When I realized this was happening I fitted a solid base to the bridge but you can still see a slight dip in the top. The new tone bars are good and have not settled or sagged in any way and the slight dip has been stable now since 2012. None of this affects the tone or playability of the guitar in any way at all.
It's a great player and I will be sad to see it go, but I have too many guitars plus I have some unfinished projects and I'm always building more so I am clearing out a few.
I have more photos of the repair in progress which I can send to anyone who is interested.I am listing a "Buy It Now" price of  £1250 but this is not set in stone. Please feel free to make an offer! 07788412145Free P&P to UK only.International bidders Please Note!
