I have played this violin for many years. I am only selling it as I am injured and it does not look like I will be able to play again. 
The sound is bold, loud, yet not harsh, has a very strong warm tone, very crisp and clear  It is currently with steel strings and set up well by a professional luthier. This is a fabulous fiddle for an andvanced to very good traditional music player and definitely also for an advanced classical player. It is 307 years old and the years have left their mark. There are several repaired cracks which, however, do not impair the stability and sound of this instrument (see the photographs, I can make more if requested). I had some leaks fixed by a master luthier about 10 years ago. I love this instrument, and have had it for over 30 years. But it would be a shame to just let it sit somewhere without a job, It needs to be played and cherished or, at least, end up in a collector's case.  This violin was made in 1709 by the German  violin maker Pancratius Reber in Duesseldorf (label inside). I will consider a reasonable offer.
