Description

Sweet sounding and excellent playing 1964 Gibson SJ Southern Jumbo.Yes, a bit of an oddball mutant, yet with a recent bridge replacement, new nut 1 11/16", and nicely leveled and crowned frets, she plays easily and has the classic mid 60's Gibson tone.Beautifully balanced tone that is woody, dryish, sweet trebles, and has that Gibson bark in the middle. There are louder dreads out there but this does what we typically want from a Gibson, sits right in the middle complementing other instruments and voice.
She takes a capo well and sings as you go up the neck.  This guitar has been completely gone through by the Northwests best luthier Mark Tossman.   Back braces were reglued.  Shes solid and ready for decades of playing pleasure.  There is a lot of bridge saddle if you ever wanted to take it down some.  Right now, as you can see in the photo, the action is just right.  Frets are now butter smooth.  There is some height lost on the lower frets but still lots of height for years to come.  As you can see, there have some mods made that I have no knowledge of why.  The top has a light finish on it which likely is only helping the top vibrate more.  The tuners have been replaced with Grovers and work well.  There are original screw holes visible.
The paint was stripped from the headstock.  Odd, but actually looks okay I think?
What you may or may not have noticed is, the inside has been spray painted for a flat blackout look.  Don't ask, I've no idea.  The letters SJ are visible through the sound hole that they must have covered prior to painting. The mahogany is very nice looking and in nice condition.
Somewhat coveted pink lined Gibson case.
I had the LR Baggs pick up installed as I intended to keep this guitar.  It works perfectly and sounds good.  Please check my feedback and bid or buy with confidence.  This guitar is not a collector piece but plays great and sounds great as well.
Phone me up to talk it over.  I've played a long time and depending on your needs I can recommend this Gibson for you, or not.
Online guitar buying can be tricky at best.  I have being screwed and have no intention to ever do that to someone else.  Likely you will be pleasantly surprised with this guitar.Ring me up.
Thank you,
Jimmy
