DaSilva Custom Mahogany Soprano Ukulele Martin Style Bodywith Extended Fingerboard in Hard Case
Gorgeous custom DaSilva Soprano Ukulele made in the USA by renowned ukulele maker Michael DaSilva, based in California (ukemaker.com). One-off, custom, handmade instrument (#291 made in 2012) with extended 19 fret fingerboard in quality hard shell case.Please look closely at my photos as they form part of the description - sold as seen.
In excellent condition (almost like new) - the only slight imperfections that I can find are a couple of very minor marks on the fretboard (next to the 1st and 3rd frets), and a small impressed mark behind the bridge, possibly from when a string was being fitted, but I've been unable to get it to show up in the in photos (in fact, I didn't even notice it for about a week of owning the instrument).The marks on the fretboard mentioned above are either just the finish, or possibly minor play wear, and look like a slight loss of the black finish on the fretboard, but to be honest this is being hyper-critical, and should be of no real concern for the new owner. Similarly, the string mark behind the bridge mentioned above is also very minor, and I've been unable to actually show it in a photo, partly due to the gloss finish. Having looked very closely again, there is also a tiny flaw in the fretboard in front of the first fret. However, I mention these tiny imperfections purely in the interest of being "as described", but this is exactly as the instrument came to me and after all, it's an instrument to be played, not preserved in a glass case!Spec:- Martin style soprano body (slightly curved back)- mahogany top, back and sides- 19 fret extended fretboard- traditional style friction tuners (possibly Pegheds)- mother of pearl inlaid logo on the headstock- rear strap buttonIntonation:A respected UK based ukulele teacher told me that this instrument has the best intonation he'd every encountered on a soprano ukulele (and in a perfect world I wouldn't be letting it go).Currency conversion:The UK Pound (£ - Sterling) is currently quite low against the US Dollar ($), making items from the USA more expensive for us in the UK(and probably for European buyers in the Eurozone too). Currency rates from 19th -23rd Jan 2016 have been £1 = $1.42, which will convert to approx. £1 = $1.37 for a credit card or Paypal transaction (quite a long way from the old "1 pound buys around 1.5 dollars" that we've been used to historically).Equivalent UK cost:I'd estimate the current cost, including hard shell case and delivery, for this instrument would be $1400-$1500, and to import it to the UK would also incur customs charges & VAT, which I'd estimate would equate to a final delivered total of around £1400, so grab a bargain!Delivery lead time:My understanding is that the build time for a custom specified instrument is 2-3 months.Fully insured delivery by next day courier.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~I accept payment by postal order, cheque, bank transfer and Paypal.All my items are sent using a signed for service.
