No hum or noise as there is no AC power, no diodes, no power supply capacitors etc. All that supplies power is the pure and simple noiseless DC source of the batteries. A ribbon microphone can be connected with a step up low to high impedance external transformer adaptor, (best results with a Magnetec nanocrystalinne toroidal core Pleiades transformer).
