For decades, audio professionals have been enamored with the sound of the EMT 250 reverb -- incredibly musical with just a hint of menacing rumble beneath.  The guys who developed that algorithm really did a brilliant job.  The model 252 reverb was a very fine rack unit unit, but early versions did not include the 250 reverb program. Some studio engineers who loved the 250 were unhappy about this, with the sound of the 251.  EMT addressed this issue by issuing an upgrade kit that added the 250 reverb program to the 252. With the upgrade kit installed, the former SPC (”space echo) program is replaced by the 250 reverb, with the exact same algorithm as the original 250.  The bandwidth is limited to 10.8 Khz with a soft roll-off, to match the 250.Installation requires slight technical ability, but is not difficult.  After removing the digital PC board from the unit, one jumper wire is cut and four new ones are added.  The EPROM in the remote unit and the six PROM’s in the mainframe are replaced with the new chips in our kit. These kits have been carefully tested and are 100% guaranteed.  We will gladly answer questions and provide phone and email support to buyers. These kits are expensive because, the 6 non-eraseable PROMs are obsolete and very costly, with a high reject rate. After production, each kit is tested in an actual EMT 252. Unfortunately, it's very expensive and time consuming for us to manufacture and test these kitsStudio Electronics Inc. has served the pro audio industry since 1981.  We run one of the best equipped service repair shops in North America, with a vast parts inventory and an extensive library of documentation on all types of audio gear -- from the 1950’s to present day.  We are an authorized service center for several manufacturers, and offer expert service on all kinds of vintage pro audio gear including EMT, UREI, Pultec, Eventide, API, Neve, Marshall Electronic, and many others.  We’ve installed over 250 studios -- everything from small project studios to large scale projects for firms like Warner Brothers and Disney.  We’re proud of our reputation in the pro audio community.
