VOX AC50 amplifier from 1965. Serial number: Technically it is a VOX AC50/4 Mk.III The original Vox Circuit diagram (OS/72) shows that it is first issue. It does NOT have the Brimistor in the power supply circuit, or the "Bright" switch - so was made between January 1965 and October 1965. It is a collectors item... Supports 8 or 16 Ohm speaker loads. Given that it is in now 50+ years old, it is in absolutely first class cosmetic and electrical condition. Cabinet is very good, all correct, corners are original (two screws and ONE nail hole) type. A hole has beem drilled in the rating plate - now fitted with a blanking grommet. Original Amphenol 3 pin loudspeaker connectors. Handle has been replaced with old stock VOX item. Original Red/Black/Green mains lead Front grille cloth is original Original well used Waterproof cover is included. Amphenol 3pin to jack speaker lead included ELECTRICALLY: Unlike most examples this is largely original and untouched. In the preamplifier just ONE 47K resistor has been replaced in the past, and the HT fuseholder has been replaced by a 20mm carrier and thats it! Otherwise AS original. Underneath I have tidied up previous messy repairs to output cathode and screen feed resistors, and fitted new bias pots (a must, because we all know what happens to the output valves when these become noisy..) Otherwise AS original. All preamp valves are all Mullard and of the correct type (including the ECC82 in the front end) and test good. They are probably NOT not the original valves, having been replaced over the years. The two EL34 output valves are 1970's Trigon (RFT?) also test good and are not noisy. The Previous owner states - "I am now retired, and have seen and worked on literally thousands of VOX amplifier units in my time. This is probably the best example of an AC50/4 that you will ever find." Priced to sell.
