Vintage Gibson 1935 Tenor Banjo with Original Hard Shell Case / No Reserve!!!!!
Estimated price for orientation: 560 $
Category: Banjos
Class:
Description UPC: Does not apply
Up for no reserve auction is my 1935 Gibson Style-00 Tenor Banjo. I'm a guitar player not a banjo player but I've acquired this instrument and do not know a lot about it or intend on playing it so here it is to the highest bidder! I have not been able to find a serial number. If anyone knows more about Gibson Tenor banjos please feel free to let me know so I may better represent this instrument more accurately, any help will be greatly appreciated. What I do know is I believe everything is here I think, except for (1) tuning key sleeve. Included is a set of strings and bridge so all that is needed is a setup and you will be able to play it. Looks like someone had brushed on some sort of varnish many years ago. Original tuning keys work well. Original frets show wear as well as the Brazilian fretboard mostly at the first 5 frets. Also included is the original Gibson Hard Shell case in fair condition with all hinges, latches and handle in working condition. Someone also made a cool custom handmade metal pick guard which was attached to the banjo by (2) wood screws which I will include. Someone could set it up and play it as is or restore it, I'll leave it to the winning bidder to decide. Highest bidder will get to enjoy this prewar Gibson so bid to win!! Style -00: This was the bottom of the line when it was introduced in 1935, it was made with a rosewood fretboard, dot inlays, nickel plating, white binding, and plain maple wood finished in a light walnut stain. This instrument had a round rod (rather than cast) tone chamber and a one-piece cast flange.
