Up for sale, a 1969 Fender Bronco tube amplifier in excellent condition and in perfect working order. Identical to the Vibro Champ in all but cosmetics, the Bronco was branded to pair with Fender's new student model guitar of the same name, and this particularly early example sports the "drip edge" aluminum trim seen only from 1968-69. The AA764 circuit is pure Class A goodness and the circuit is identical to the earlier Blackface Fender amps, although this Bronco has the earliest Silverface faceplate. A surprisingly loud amp with its alnico 8" speaker, this Bronco has just the right amount of glassy, sparkling clean tone before pushing into smooth, lightly compressed tube overdrive at about 4 on the volume knob. Dynamic, responsive and absolutely huge sounding when you put a microphone in front of it, it's hard to beat the Bronco for pure simplicity and great tone. And of course, Fender's lush sounding tremolo circuit has a strong pulse and wide range of speeds, perfect for subtle shifts in volume or machine gun chop!The circuit is nearly untouched and very original, with a power transformer from the second week of 1969 and a clear '69 chassis stamp as well. The output transformer is a more modern Fender branded replacement that matches vintage spec. The tube chart is particularly clean, with crisp corners and unfaded paper. The speaker is an era correct 8" alnico driver, with a very clean frame and a faint "Fender" silkscreen logo on the magnet. The amp retains a vintage two-prong power cable.The original smooth black tolex, silver sparkle grillcloth and nickel hardware are remarkably clean and in great shape. The tolex shows barely any wear and the grillcloth still has plenty of sparkle to the thread. Just stunning! The faceplate retains its striking red text, with a few small nicks and dings, as well as light wear on the edges of the original witch hat knobs. The lower back panel is original, while the top panel is a vintage spec replacement courtesy of Rodgers Amplification.A rare and desirable variant on the Vibro Champ design, this Bronco sounds great and has been well cared for over the past 45+ years!
