German double bass, circa 1840. Recently set up, appraised and valued. This is a very good sounding bass in good condition for its age. It has acquired a couple of cracks to the back panel at some point in its long life, but these have been repaired (see photographs) and do not affect the sound at all. Plays very well with no buzzes or rattles. The back is flat, 2-piece maple and the body is even-grained spruce. Please contact me with any questions and I'll do my best to answer.
