second BK-4A, which has a longer, brown cable.This rare vintage Television microphone is in excellent vintage condition, with a few slight scratches on the side. Because of this, the price is lower than my other BK-4A listing. Please refer to the photos as I tried to capture them as clearly as I could. The microphone has been tested and checked by ENAK Microphones in Pitman, NJ, who replaced the end with a new 3-pin connector, ready to plug in to today's equipment.
The RCA BK-4A is an rare, unusual looking ribbon microphone in that it was designed for a broadcaster on TV. The TV personality was able to hold it lower and closer to his body while speaking into the thin tip which did not hide their face. The tip of the microphone, although only 7/8th of an inch in diameter, contained a ribbon which had been specially designed to fit in this small space. Despite the small size, it provided the rich sound quality of a much larger ribbon/pressure mic. It also weighs less than a pound, proving helpful for the broadcaster!I am also selling several other vintage RCA ribbon microphones this week.
