1954 Gibson Mastertone banjo pot assembly with 4 hole archtop tonering and all original hardware except for replacement tailpiece and added second coordinator rod (vintage Gibson). Rare offering on a genuine and quite old  Mastertone pot assembly. Serial number 42465-46. When I got this assembly in, the tonering fit FAR too tight...very difficult to remove. I turned the rim to correctly fit the tonering so it could be easily removed. Second coordinator rod also added. With the correct tonering fit and second rod, this banjo pot can now be correctly set up once a banjo is built around it. Without either of these improvements, the complete banjo would NOT be able to be set up, nor would it sound correct. All hardware is in EXTREMELY good condition but the armrest does show some brassing. Banjo rim is CLEARLY a 3 ply MAY-PUL (spelled incorrectly on purpose for listing needs) rim of very high quality. Only 9 years removed from Gibson prewar era. Finish on rim is VERY good. Can offer $100 discount, please inquire about this and any banjo needs you have. Happy to correctly fit your neck to this pot at no charge.
The MOST IMPORTANT aspect of building or restoring a banjo is the manner in which the neck fits to the pot assembly, the manner in which the flange fits to the rim and the manner in which the tonering fits to the rim. If any of these are less than professional, your banjo will not sound right and a good setup will be impossible. I would LOVE to help you get your banjo project done correctly and if you are buying your parts from me, I can offer to do your NECK FITTING, TONERING FITTING and FLANGE FITTING, FREE OF CHARGE or at minimal cost. Contact me for details. I love selling parts and will offer my time and expertise to you in order to sell more and thus buy more to offer the banjo community. Please be assured that I am an honest seller of parts, I will not, as some online sellers do, try to pass off inferior parts as the genuine item. I like to buy and sell mostly Gibson Banjo related items. Please refer to the BANJO HANGOUT where I am a member in good standing under the name Lou Bourbon. I will stand behind these parts and I will never send you something that is broken (unless advertised as such) nor will I pass off low quality work as anything but the truth. Detailed pictures are always provided and I am happy to talk to you either via email or by phone about items listed for sale. Local pickup is always welcomed. Shipping is done with excellent care in packing.
