This is a very new amp. I purchased last year in October and immediately put in a full set of JJ tubes from Eutotubes (Eurotubes.com, search the vox retube kt: low output hi gain)
It is the low output hi gain kit that has a matched set and really makes the amp break up and sing. The amp sounds fantastic, it is just a little too loud for my needs as I am just recording and not gigging any longer. It will kick ass in a club sized band or if you just really want to rip. The tubes make a HUGE difference in this amp, as the stock ones had a more brittle sound on the high end. It's nice and warm overdrive, some chunky rhythm on the top boost channel, and then that sweet, jangly clean on the clean channel. i paid about $700 altogether for the amp with the tubes, it's yours, almost broken in for $500 or best offer. I've put about 10 hours in on it, mostly recording. I just can't run it all out like I wanted too and still face my neighbors. Includes VFS2A Vox Footswitch to turn verb and trem on and off and switch between the two. Should come with the amp but it was an additional $30. Here are factory specs:
Two Killer Channels: Normal and Top-BoostThe versatility of the Vox AC15C1 Custom combo amp lies in its two separate input channels: Normal and Top-Boost. The Normal channel immediately delivers the warm, classic sound that you recognize from countless famous recordings from the 1960s and beyond. When you're done recreating the guitar sounds heard on Rubber Soul, plug into the Top Boost section and get a distinctive tone that benefits from the highly musical Treble and Bass controls. Each of these two channels is equipped with its own Volume control as well.Taking your tonal crafting power even further, you'll find Tone Cut and Volume controls in the Master section. Tone Cut works by modulating the signal passing through the power stage yielding a darker, richer tone. Then, you'll find yet another level of tone control playing with the balance between the Master Volume control and the individual Volume knobs on each channel. One Killer Celestion G12M Greenback SpeakerA Vox amplifier wouldn't be complete without its distinctively designed preamp with 3 x 12AX7 tubes, and the famous 12-inch Celestion G12M Greenback speaker. No less essential to this tone is the authentic spring reverb, giving you everything from a shallow roomy verb to a far bigger and more expansive sound a la The Ventures or Dick Dale. The final element in the Vox AC15C1's unique tonal character is its famous Tremolo, with adjustable Rate and Depth. Both the Reverb and the Tremolo can also be controlled with the optional VOX VFS2 footswitch (not included), allowing you to turn the Reverb and Tremolo effects on and off as you play.Goes Way Beyond 15 WattsThe Vox AC15C1 Custom comes with a switchable 8/16 ohm output jack -- extremely useful for when you want to connect to an external speaker cabinet, and mute the internal speaker. A second speaker jack allows you to run an additional 16 ohm cabinet along with the internal speaker for a fuller, more spatialized sound.Features:- 2 channels: Normal and Top Boost
