STICHTER MINSTREL BANJObyBELL BANJOS
The Stichter Minstrel Banjo by Bell is modeled after the Henry Stichter banjo of 1848. It represents a turning point in banjo history when wood rim banjos were becoming more popular than earlier gourd banjos. The ability to tighten the skin was a great advancement for banjos. This design is very unique. There are an odd seven tightening brackets. And the peghead is certainly unique. The neck is half black yet the whole neck is playable, with 'scribed' frets at the 7th and 9th fret positions. This banjo has the loud, deep tone that Bells are known for. This is a solid hardwood rim which produces great sound. The neck is super smooth and the Nylgut strings are easy to finger. The skin is goatskin. The friction pegs are perfectly fit and lubed for a lifetime of use. This is a stock photo. The wood pattern may be different on your banjo but I guarantee it will be beautiful. The scale length is 27 inches. The rim is 12 5/8" in diameter. The minstrel tuning is d G D F# A. Similar tunings of Sawmill, Double G, and Open are easy to tune to and the whole array of minstrel AND mountain music can be played. Bell Banjos are played by folks around the world and are known for ease of playing and great sound.
