Up for sale is a
2009 Ray Webber A-Style Mandolin(no label, "R. Webber, 12-3-09" hand
written on inside neck heel). This mandolin was built at a time when R. Webber
was working with Ray Dearstone and is a high-end instrument with excellent
detail/workmanship. Features include: Solid Arched Cedar Top; Solid Walnut Back
and Sides; Rosewood Bridge and Fingerboard; and Wood Binding, Headstock Overlay
and Truss Rod Cover.
This mandolin has
been played some but well maintained and in excellent overall
condition.
Structurally solid
and without issue: Neck is straight with only minor fret wear on the 1st few
frets; no warps, separations, etc.; there is a very subtle/minor settling crack
along the Walnut grain on the back(see pic) - this is very subtle and I refer to
it as a settling crack for it's not in any 'stress' area - strictly cosmetic and
again, minor.
Cosmetically overall
this mandolin is very clean. It has a satin finish with a slightly higher
'sheen' than many (Dearstone believed it to be a True-Oil Varnish) and the
'sheen' deviates a bit in various spots from normal handling/playing...minor and
typical. There is one small but noticeable ding in the top(see pic) and maybe a
couple of other marks you could find thru-out, but they are minor. Overall,
extremely clean.
This mandolin plays,
looks, sounds great. Includes the Hard-Foam Hardshell Case pictured in excellent
condition as well.
