This unit as of now has been fully tested, records audio on all eight channels using internally installed noiseless Samsung SSD 128GB drive inside a modern SCSI to SSD enclosure (as seen on pics) and passes audio via AES I/O on all eight channels.It comes with the following upgrades:1. An internal high quality Samsung 128GB SSD drive was installed along with brand new SCSI to SSD enclosure2. The unit is completely silent during its operation therefore can be used for any classical music on-location sessions3. Users gets a whopping 15 hours per track of recording time at 24bit/96kHz, which is 2x more than with two 36GB SCSI drives installed by the manufacturer when this was first offered4. There is no more heat generated inside the unit, so the fan was disconnected as well as it is no longer needed5. Buyer will receive original GENEX AES/EBU 8ch I/O cable snake (DB25 to 8 XLRs - 4 male and 4 female) - just add an 8 channel modern mic preamp with AES outs, such as the Audient 008 (available on ebay for about $800-900) and you have a very powerful and reliable 8ch field recorder. These cables are very hard to find as Genex uses it's own proprietary AES pin out protocol6. This recorder is built like a tank however it's weight has been reduced substantially as the two SCSI drives have been removed7. There is space to add one more SSD drive/enclosure combo to this machine shall the new user decide however given the 128GB currently it is hardly needed8. There is 8ch D/A Genex card installed, which originally retailed for about $2,000. It passes audio on channels 2-8, however channel 1 on this card does not pass audio. We are adding this card as a bonus. User can use it for monitoring channels 2-8 during recording if needed or add extra Genex 8ch D/A converter (offered in our other listing) for additional monitoring needs.
