Description
Brand: Slingerland Country/Region of Manufacture: United States
Era: 1970

This is a completely original Slingerland "Gene Krupa" model drum set, purchased new in 1971 from the Professional Percussion Center in New York. The set consists of 3-pieces , a 20" bass drum, 13" mounted tom, & 16" floor tom. The drums are all in excellent round with smooth and unaltered bearing edges, no extra holes, and no cracks or tears in the covering. All hardware operates smoothly, no chrome pitting or flaking. This set is very tunable, including at lower pitches, the kick can thump, and both toms are very resonant, I consider this set pretty dialed in as is. The toms are both silver badges with 5-digit serial numbers 242XX for the 16" , & 240XX for the 13", the bass drum has 6-digit serial number of 2452XX, although I no longer have the original COB snare, it too was a brass badged drum. The set, despite having mixed era badges, was purchased this way originally as a new set set. The Vintage drum Guide page has a timeline that shows the brass badge 60's serial numbers ending at 250,000 when the serial numbers were reset starting with the silver badge series. Perhaps the store mixed two sets? I don't know but this is how the set was purchased new, so it is still original in that regard. This set mics up sweet in the studio and live, really a superb example of the Gene Krupa set! This kit has been completely restored and is in amazing condition. Listing is for the 3 drums only. No other items are included, any questions please ask.
