Vintage 14K solid gold flute from the renowned William S. Haynes company of Boston, Massachussetts.
The flute has a manufacture date of 1934.
The Haynes company, established in 1888, is the world's oldest manufacturer of artist quality handmade flutes.
This flute, like all Haynes gold flutes of this vintage, is a work of art and is renowned not only for its quality, but also its sonority.
The head joint, body, and foot joint are in a remarkable state of preservation, and it retains its original lined instrument case and leather carrying bag. It is a testament to the craftsmanship and quality of the William S. Haynes company flutes that players like the legendary Jean-Pierre Rampaul and George Barrere along with modern artists such as Kathleen Chastain, Shigenori Kudo, Heather Holden, Claudi Arimany and many others have chosen the Haynes flute as their instrument of "choice."
All three sections of the flute are stamped 14k, and the keys are 14k GOLD and NOT silver. The cleaning rod is not marked 14k.
The flute weights about 1 pound avoirdupois.
