Description
Up for sale is my 1964, production #1 Pre-CBS Fender Princeton Reverb. I looked a long time to find a "production #1" of this model. They are not easy to find on Princetons or any other Fender amps for that matter.
Check out my Instagram feed for more pictures of this amp and other gear: reverend_guitar_man.
This is the "no logo model," which was only produced in 1964 prior to the transfer of Fender to the CBS Corporation. It also happens to be part of their first production run (note the label on the inner part of cabinet). This means that this amp was part of the first batch of fender Princeton Reverbs ever to leave the factory. This is really a unique opportunity to get your hands on one of the first blackface amps made in the pre-CBS Fender era.
Because of these features, this makes this model particularly collectible (hence the higher asking price than other blackface Princeton Reverbs on the market).
The blackface tone is as good as it gets, and the reverb is lush and full. The tremolo, too, sounds fantastic. There is a good reason these are going up in price and becoming so popular on the vintage market. They provide all the great tones available in the bigger models like the Pro, Deluxe, Vibroverb, and Vibrolux, but in a much more manageable package for the studio, stage, or collector's room.
This one has only minor cosmetic flaws (see pictures). All the major components on the amp original (cab, speaker, transformers, much of the circuitry). The amp has been recently serviced to keep it operating within factory spec, so it does have a few minor internal things that have been changed (i.e. its had some caps replaced). I know we all prefer 100% originality. But even vintage cars need new tires and new gasoline in order to run :). The changed caps keep it operating correctly and within factory spec. It also looks like someone has added modern clips to the original speaker wire to connect it to the speaker (as shown in the pictures). These can be easily removed, although I have left it as is. It also has a modern three pronged power cable as is necessary for safety.
My price is $3999.99. This is a very collectible piece! It will be carefully packed and shipped with insurance.
International shipping may be available. Please note that the 149.99 cost is an estimate only and may vary from country to country.
IF YOU ARE AN INTERNATIONAL BUYER, YOU MUST CONTACT ME BEFORE PURCHASING TO CONFIRM ACTUAL SHIPPING COSTS AND AVAILABILITY.
Email with questions or for more pictures. I can pull the chassis and send "gut shots" if you'd like.
