So my tech built this and he was going to do a few of these but he is old and not well...it has phantom power, and he added an output transformer but I am not sure if the output is as strong as it should be. The unbalanced side has some serious kick... so it you want to make an offer on it without the 600ohm red altec transformer mention it in your offer. I think I can dismantle the rack shelf and pack this safe n tight in a reasonable size box . The rack shelf is cheap substitute to these guys selling rack wings for these for 100 plus bucks so shipping is $35 fixed
Thanks as questions now.... has a 'high gain and low gain' it really is pretty hot with mic signals... but sounds cool...not the quietest preamp in the rack!!! here are some notes he made not sure if they are 100% accurate MAKE OFFER!!!!Ampex 600 microphone preampThis model 600 preamp has been modded to a standard four tube mike preamp circuitThis one comes with a Huge sounding Bogen or a lower gain brighter McMartin 9-pin input trans Just changing the input transformer, will give the preamp a very different soundThe in trans socket has been changed to 9-pin, same size as octal, but 9-pins EF86 1st stage, warm 12ay7 is the buffer, and line/mike mixer, and two 12au7s for outputEF86 - 12Ay7 - 12au7 - 12au7 - 12au7 - 5y3A second 12au7 was 'coupled' to the line out amp, so there are three triodes in parallel, making one BIG triode for a huge sounding,
