Up for sale, a 1964 Fender Princeton in near mint, collector-grade condition and in perfect working order. This rare, transitional "tuxedo" Princeton features the Brownface 6G2 circuit with Blackface cosmetics, a pairing that only lasted a few short months. 100% original and a true Pre-CBS Fender amp, this amp even comes with the original schematic and Fender manual, complete with unused warranty card. The Princeton has a tone that is very dynamic and warm, with crystalline clean tones giving way to rich, saturated overdrive as you turn up the Volume knob. The circuit is as pure and straightforward as they come, and the single Tone knob has a surprisingly wide range. The bias based tremolo circuit has a nice pulse and range of speeds too!The circuit is 100% original, with untouched solder joints and all of the original blue molded Ajax tone caps that are essential to the Pre-CBS Fender sound. All transformers have early '64 date codes, and the chassis stamp dates to 1964 as well. The tubes are all vintage and likely original to the amp, with a pair of RCA 6V6 power tubes. On the tube chart, the paper is still very white, with only faint staining on the bottom portion, crisp corners, and an "NG" date code that translates to July of '64. The speaker is the original CTS ceramic 10" driver, with a minty frame and date code from the 51st week of 1963.In terms of cosmetic appearance, it would be hard to find a nicer Princeton. The original smooth black tolex and silver sparkle grillcloth are intact with sparingly little wear, and all the stock hardware is present as well including chassis straps, sphinx glides, handle caps, and a set of original white barrel knobs with indicator lines that have worn off in the past 50+ years. While we hesitate to call anything "mint," this is a particularly nice example that will satisfy serious players and discerning collectors alike! This transitional Pre-CBS Princeton is 100% original and complete with the original manual and schematic! Please check out our shop "Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar" on the web, and feel free to call us directly with any questions at 206.399.8518.
Shipping in the continental USA will be by FedEx Ground and will be $80, fully insured. We use double thick boxes, 1" foam and industrial 1/2" bubble wrap to assure that your amp arrives safely.
