Description
Body Material: Wood Country/Region of Manufacture: United Kingdom
Skill Level: Professional

This is an antique 1820's wooden flute with original case from a local estate.  It is signed "RUDALL & ROSE LONDON" on all joints, as well as "7 TAVISTOCK STREET COVENT GARDEN" - "463" on the body (see images). The fitted case has no markings, and includes a turned wooden grease container and two bore swabs. The flute measures 26 1/2" long overall.  It is in unrestored original condition. All of the silver keys and adjustments move freely. There is a crack in the head joint (no previous repairs / see images). The head joint is fully metal lined and adjusts freely, with original crisp / sharp embouchure.  All joints assemble snugly with no looseness. The body has cork instead of greased thread as on the other joints (see images). The case has good working latches, hinges, and lock (no key). It shows expected signs of age to varnish finish, with missing brass inlay monogram plaque and one missing line inlay (see images / easy repair for skilled restorer).  This is a very early RUDALL & ROSE flute in un-touched / unrestored original condition. It displays beautifully!  Being sold as-pictured for collection, restoration, or display.  International shipping is thru EBay's Global Shipping Center, with any custom fees due at time of purchase. Please ask any questions before bidding.

On May-26-16 at 16:30:42 PDT, seller added the following information:Hello. The street address of Ruddal & Rose is VERY clearly stamped "7. TAVISTOCK...."  It is not a poorly stamped "1" or "11" or a later street address. It is 7.  We're happy to send any close-up pictures of any feature desired (we can't post new pictures to the listing on items which have received a bid). Thanks again, Jim
