Listed here is a lovely Wheatstone Bb/F 40 button concertina in an excellent condition. The serial number is #57378 (manufactured in June 1955). This Model 7a professional model concertina was originally made in the standard C/G keys but was re-pitched to a Bb/F tuning by a previous owner. The previous owner was a professional concertina player in South Africa. This concertina has a strong, sweet and bright sound (not strident). Several of the reeds are set in brass frames. The concertina is tuned to A=440. The reeds are set in a dovetailed reedpan with their own individual slots for easy access and easy service. The eight fold bellows are in excellent condition with no leaks. Although this concertina is not rivited action it is very responsive and plays fast. Each note and each button works. This concertina was serviced in 2015 by Wim Wakker of the Concertina Connection. The Bb/F tuning is conducive for singing accompaniment or accompanying other instruments in the key of Bb/F. This concertina compares favourably to my previous Wim Wakker W-A5 Bb/F 40 button anglo - and has an excellent dynamic range.
