Up for sale, a 1964 Fender Deluxe Reverb in exceptional condition and in perfect working order. Widely considered to be one of the greatest tube amps of all time, this Deluxe Reverb is extremely original and well kept. A first year model with a "Fender Electric Instruments" faceplate and rare no logo grill, the amp is pure Pre-CBS Blackface goodness from production run #2! Stocked with a matched pair of NOS Sylvania 6V6 power tubes and a mostly NOS tubes in the preamp as well, this Deluxe delivers the shimmering, balanced clean tone that has made these amps a mainstay in studios and on stages for decades. The amp has great midrange content, light compression, and starts to saturate with smooth tube overdrive after about 4 on the volume dial. The Reverb is very lush with long decay and the Tremolo has a strong pulse with an almost three dimensional quality to the effect when you increase the intensity. The circuit is very nearly stock, with all of the original blue molded Ajax tone caps intact in the preamp (an essential part of the Blackface sound). All of the transformers are original, with the power transformer, choke, and reverb transformer dating to the earliest weeks of '64, while the output transformer dates all the way back to the 50th week of 1963! The original CTS pots also date to the earliest weeks of 1964, and the '64 chassis stamp is clean and intact. The circuit has also received the necessary maintenance due any amp of this vintage, with a fresh recap with Sprague Atoms and a three-prong power cable.The tube chart is present and in great shape, with an "ND" date code which translates to April of 1964. An era-correct Jensen C12Q speaker with a mid-1963 date code is currently installed in the amp with a clean frame, and the original wiring harness is present, sporting the plain metal cap on the 1/4" speaker jack only seen on examples from '64.Cosmetically, the amp is particularly clean and complete with original smooth black tolex and silver sparkle grillcloth. The grillcloth has only aged moderately since '64 and the Blackface faceplate shows very little wear with all of the black witch hat knobs intact (one silver cap is missing from the treble knob on the vibrato channel). The tolex shows only a few light scuffs, but overall this amp is a very strong 9/10, with a speckling of light surface rust on the chassis straps and a few of the original corners.
