1955 Gibson "Country Western"!1st year production! So hard to find!
This is the early 55' transitional version that has the teardrop J-50 pick-guard.The heel of the neck has broken and the piece is missing.
As a result, the neck pushes forward when there are strings on it.
The binding and braces in that area will need attention once you build the new heel piece.
All other braces are intact and seem solid.
There is at least a couple early crack repairs on the lower left back of the guitar. And 1 new crack on the upper right back.
The top of the guitar is flat and shows no warping. The neck seems to be true and straight although the fingerboard has deep wear on the first 3 or so frets.
The sides are heavily checked and scratched but show no cracks or warping.This is a great candidate for someone who knows what they are doing. You will be hard pressed to find another TRUE 55' with a tear drop guard.
It will be shipped in a non original hard case and insured.Please, no returns on this guitar. It is a worthy project that needs a loving hand. Sold as-is.
