Neumann KMR 82i Shotgun Mic
Estimated price for orientation: 800 $
Category: Parts and Accessories
Class:
Description Brand: Neumann
The Neumann KMR 82i is an ultra transparent super cardioid Shotgun microphine. What makes this shotgun mic better than a cheap Rodes mic for example is its off axisis rejection. Low end Shotgun mics have terrible off axis rejection, meaning if you're not in the sweet spot of the mic the vocal tonality and eq will be completely off. This is a nightmare in post because after multiple takes and edits tonal continuity is being thrown completely out the door. The KMR 82i however is an incredibly forgiving mic. Even if you're not on the sweet spot your voice will still sound exactly. No high end roll off or artifacts.
This microphone is ideal for interviews, video shoots and, sound fx/field recoding and ADR. I've also had success with it as a studio microphone. Really great as a drum overhead and occasionally during mic shootoutd singers have preferred it over a large diaphragm mic.
If you want to use this for field recording you're gonna want a blimp to cut down noise. The Sennheiser MZW 70-1 and MRS 20-1 is what you'll need.
