Syhre Corno Da Caccia made by Friedbert Syhre, who developed the instrument along with Ludwig Güttler. The corno da caccia has a totally different leadpipe-to-bell ratio from the flugelhorn which produces a wonderful french horn type sound.Sale includes a case, and tuning bits for Bb and A (the curled tuning bit shown is in A, the straight tuning bit is in Bb), and a very nice Brass Bags case. This instrument was overhauled at the Syhre shop by its previous owner. This instrument is in lovely condition overall. Most of the original lacquer is missing. The valves work great, and compression on the valves/slides is excellent. This instrument plays differently from what you are likely used to from a trumpet or flugelhorn, but with the time spent to adjust, it is very well worth it. I have successfully performed the Neruda concerto, the Mahler third symphony posthorn solo, and a few other pieces of the repertoire on this instrument.
This instrument accepts a german flugelhorn shank mouthpiece, which is a standard trumpet taper, but shorter to accommodate the deep flugelhorn mouthpiece. I have also played this instrument successfully with various french horn mouthpieces with adapters.
I will ship worldwide. I will combine shipping as much as possible if you buy multiple items. Items available for local pick-up in Chicago.
