It is a large-bore, silver-plated instrument which produces a traditional British brass band sound. You are unlikely to require further work for some time to come. The cornet is in excellent condition, both functionally and aesthetically. The valves and slides are clean and unmarked. Their motion is smooth and quiet. With the exception of a cluster of small dings, the brass is completely undamaged. The silver plate is in good, but not perfect, condition, with some small scratches spread across the instrument and some nicks in the bell rim. The black nickel coating on the key caps is partially worn away, and the silver plate shows through underneath.
