This is a
very nice sample of high quality craftsmanship, the serial number dates this C
melody tenor around 1918/19,
it is a low
pitch (A=440hz), "New Wonder" model with rolled tone holes, front
altissimo key, straight neck with micro-tuner mechanism
Conditions
are exceptional for the age, the gold plate is almost intact and the bell
feature the extended hand engraving typical of gold plated saxophones, wonderful !
The
saxophone and its original neck are in excellent shape, nice and straight,
without dents or metal repairs, neck never pulled down or bentThere is
some little, very tiny mark here and there but absolutely nothing major
The keywork
feels comfortable and it is in very good working order, all springs respond
well and there are no frozen screws
Brown pads
with rivet are not new but have a good sealing, the saxophone plays with a very
beautiful and warm voice
The
original case is a little worn outside but it is structurally in good shape,
locks work well and the handle is secure
The
saxophone come with its original hard rubber mouthpiece in very good conditions
with metal ligature and capThe name
PHYLLIS WRIGHT (the original owner I assume) is engraved on the body (see
pictures) in Gothic characters, very clean and good job!
