A fine French violin bow made by Justin Poirson ca. 1890, branded on the stick "POIRSON A PARIS", certified by J.F. Raffin in Paris. J. Poirson  was one of the important French bow makers, pupil of the great Nicolas Maire, also a maker of fine bows for J.B. Vuillaume. This is a very fine example of the maker's work, strong and flexible, elegant, with a wonderful sound and excellent handling. 
The stick is a dark red brown pernambuco
.The frog and button are ebony with silver mountings.The length of the stick is 72.9 cm and the weight is of the bow is 59 g. It is in a very fine condition, ready to play.
