A superb French certified cello bow by J.J. Martin, ca. 1870.

A superb French cello bow made by Jean Joseph Martin ca. 1870 for H.C. Silvestre, certified by J.F. Raffin, S. Bigot and Y. Le Canu in Paris. J.J. Martin was one of the fine and important French bow makers, also a maker of fine bows for J.B. Vuillaume. This is a wonderful example, also an outstanding playing bow in a very fine state of preservation. 
The stick is fine pernambuco, round, strong, with a rare combination of exceptional tonal quality with equally excellent technical ability and handling. The length of the stick is 68.8 cm and the weight is of the bow is 78 g.
