A rare, exceptional French certified cello bow made by Jean Joseph Martin ca. 1860-1863 for J.B. Vuillaume, branded "VUILLAUME A PARIS". J.J. Martin was one of the fine and important French bow makers. This is a superb example, also a solo level bow in a very fine, collectors state of preservation.
The stick is finest quality red brown pernambuco, round, strong, with a perfect combination of exceptional tonal quality with equally fine handling. The length of the stick is 70 cm and the weight is of the bow is 75 g. It is ready to play with a new hair.
