This serie called " Conservatoires" was manufactured from 1934 down to 1964. For Information, here is in the crescent order the letters showing the quality of COUESNON's INSTRUMENTS Starting with the Instruments for studying up to the professional ones SO,SGO,BO,GMN,BN,HN (Opera Models) then MONOPOLE and Monopole Conservatoires. *This Couesnon Monopole Conservatoires French Horn model is extremely rare. The present one is a true Double Horn : - On one side, the F Slides, and on the other side, the Bb slides. This French Horn is quite remarkable with several specific details : The instrument presents a superb outlook design - The pistons valves alignment is with a direct air column both for the F tone & Bb; This direct air column is an authentic technical success which also requested to place the F tone and the Bb tone each on different side of the instrument. So it is a true Double Horn quite rare in France at the moment.according to the personal player's fingers. The finish of the top-pistons is made of mother-of-pearl. This Horn is an ascending Horn,considering both the F & the Bb tones. Of course, this is a security to play especially high notes, as harmonics are spacer. * Excepted some rare tiny dings, scratches and use tracks, this Instrument is in a very good shape. Original Silver plated, with some missing silver tracks, especially inside the Bell. Every slide is removeable. The pistons valves are smooth with a good compression. * This French Horn has a nice round sound, rather clear in the tradition of the French Horns made in France at the time, which is particularly fitting to the French Music of the beginning of the XXth century. It is a perfect instrument for Music Chamber and Concerti.
