This is a 1969 Ludwig 5.5" x 14" snare drum in ORIGINAL 60's black oyster wrap. you can see were the wrap goes into the shell. ( see picture # 7 ) 3 ply with reinforcement rings with clear maple interior. This drum originally left the Ludwig factory as a 10 x 14 Orchestra snare drum. ( see picture # 12 ) This was Professionally cut down to a 5.5 snare drum. top reinforcement ring was moved. the bottom is factory, 1 hole was drilled each lug, new badge hole and muffler holes were drilled. there are no extra holes and nothing was plugged. bearing edge was recut to Ludwig spec's. Top rering was attached with more care and quality than the bottom. which was done in 1969 by Ludwig. The holes for the p-83 strainer and p-32 butt are the original holes. Bottom bearing edge and snare beds are original.
Original wrap is in very good plus condition. Has a small area were there was some rubbing. ( see picture # s 8 & 9 ) not a big deal. The lugs, p-83 strainer & p-32 butt, badge , muffler are all original to this drum. the rims are 60's Ludwig and the tension rods are new Ludwig. All the chrome is good. the rims have a little pitting/chrome loss here and there. snare wires are after market.
Bottom head fits on nice and spins freely. the top head goes on a little tight , Has brand new heads. Remo white coated amb. on top and a Remo clear snare side head. Keystone badge # 699468IF I DIDN'T TELL YOU THIS WAS CUT FROM A 10 X 14 SNARE DRUM. YOU WOULD NEVER HAD KNOWN.
