The agreed buyer did not raise the money so I am relisting at a to sell price. I am selling a great old 1947 Martin D-28. This guitar was a one owner guitar until I acquired it from the daughter of the original owner. It is in great condition with some normal playing wear but not an inordinate amount. The bridge plate and bridge are original to this guitar. I believe even the bridge saddle is original. The first 3 frets have been replaced probably in 1990 and the rest are in great shape with lots of life left in them. Only a few small divots in the first few positions of the fingerboard. The tuners, though original type, are replacements I believe because these tuners are the single line Kluson deluxe that came out a few years later than the no line Kluson deluxe tuners that would be correct for this year. The top is nice n flat, the neck is as straight as a level and the action is low with no buzzing. Though there is no evidence, I believe the neck was reset by a Martin repair shop in 1990. the pick guard is tight though it does have the typical pick guard B string crack that has been repaired. When I got the guitar the bridge was slightly lifting so I had my repair man do an expert job of regluing it as well as check it out for any other needs. The only other thing he found was a small crack just beginning to appear off the back of the bridge that was only visible for about 2 inches by shining a light through it, it was not open at all, so he worked some glue into that to stop it as there was no need for a cleat. There were no other cracks anywhere and all the finish is original though someone has put some clear lacquer or sealer over the worn spot in front and at the rear of the pick guard, see pictures. There is buckle rash on the back. Nut also appears to be original. Not much arm wear to the finish up on the top shoulder. The Brazilian. Rosewood is very beautiful with dark veiny lines and a center cut book matched back. I do not believe this guitar had ever been cleaned up when I got it so I put some elbow grease into cleaning it and was amazed at the beauty of the finish and wood. As I said, action is beautiful, plays like butter, neck is not the bulky neck, and best of all, the guitar sounds just like you would expect a tapered braced 1947 Martin D-28 guitar from this period to sound. The case is a good generic but not original. I have described to the best of my ability with honesty but don't be afraid to ask questions. I will answer all to the best of my ability.
